Man charged for July 27 assault

Sean Merrihew, 23, of Lebanon, is charged with second-degree assault for allegedly attacking Mark Cookson, 53, of Hanover, on West Wheelock Street late last month.

Merrihewwas released on a $10,000 bail and will appear in Lebanon’s second circuit court on Sept. 15, Hanover Police announced Tuesday morning.

The assault occurred early inthe morning of July 27,close to Robert's Flowers. A Safety and Security Officer saw the altercation when on patrol and alerted Hanover Police.

In a July 27 interview, Safety and Security director Harry Kinne said that an officer had seen two individuals fleeing the scene and that witnesses said two people, a man and a woman, had assaulted the victim.

Hanover Police chief Charlie Dennis said he could not disclose information on the woman, as the investigation is ongoing.
