Student Assembly President Frode Eilertsen '99 is aiming to become the first Assembly president in recent history to serve in the position for two years.
Eilertsen has begun circulating a petition to be put on the ballot in the spring. He said he hopes to bring some continuity to a student body upset by the loss of some of its major administrators.
"It is of incredible importance and value for the student body that this coming fall sees a really strong student representative body," he said.
Eilertsen said one goal would be "to ensure student life and student interests become a priority for the next administration."
He said he plans to make sure some of the long-term projects this year's Assembly began to work on are continued in the fall.
"In this time of change it's important for the student representative body to have that link between the past and the future," he said.
Eilertsen said he has chosen to declare his candidacy to "avoid speculation" about his intentions Spring term.
