The Student Assembly is working on several service projects this summer including construction of a new basketball court in the River Dormitories, completing a dining guide and installing telephones in all dormitories.
Summer Assembly President Ben Hill '98 said he spoke with Director of Residential Operations Woody Eckels about replacing the pay telephones in dormitories with regular phones.
Hill said the Assembly has also discussed options for a new Dartmouth mascot. He said Assembly members are trying to determine student opinion on the subject.
The Assembly is also working on obtaining "promo packs" to be distributed this fall.
Hill said the Assembly has also contacted the College's new student organizations asking for a short "blurb" about their organization for a newsletter to be distributed among incoming freshman.
He said the Assembly is considering creating a World Wide Web Page that will serve as a community calendar, providing information on everything from events at the Hopkins Center to parties.
"Everything would be in one place so it will be easy to look up," he said. "Hopefully it will increase attendance at events."
Hill said he has met with administrators to discuss the calendar.
Student Assembly Vice-President Simone Swink '98 said many new people have been coming to Student Assembly meetings this summer.
Twenty people attended Tuesday's meeting, Swink said.
