Green Key Weekend, the College's answer to Spring, begins in earnest tonight and continues until the early hours of Sunday morning.
There are 12 registered parties this weekend, according to Office of Residential Life records, ranging from the standard disc jockey and dance parties to creative Green Key themes.
Friday
Delta Gamma Sorority
DG will host a lip sync competition on the lawn of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity from 5 until 7 this afternoon. Donations will be accepted and the proceeds will go to the Foundation for the Blind. Brave souls will be able to lip sync to their favorite tunes for a good cause which always "promises to be interesting and entertaining," according to DG social chair Michele Baez '97.
Psi Upsilon Fraternity
According to Psi U social chair Jeffrey Cutshall '97, the band Percy Hill will be playing on the front lawn from 5 until 8 in the afternoon.
Alpha Chi Alpha
Alpha Chi will be hosting a party featuring the band Upside Down Frown from 10 till 3 in the morning, and according to social chair Ben Chittick '97 "a special guest appearance by El Debarge."
Beta Theta Pi
Beta will be having a DJ party tonight. In the words of Social Chair Owen MacDonald '97, "how's you're Bud Ice? Doobie, doobie doo. Watch out for the penguins ..." It is not clear what that has to do with the party, but it should be a good time.
BonesGate
BonesGate Tea makes a return this spring and as the brothers host their popular big weekend costume party. BonesGate Tea has become such a standby that, according to BG social chair Paul Manger '97, if you do don't do know by now you'll never learn."
Psi Upsilon
The annual Psi Gam party is tonight, according to Social Chair Jeffrey Cutshall. The Spin Brothers will DJ.
Sigma Nu
The brothers of Sigma Nu will be looking to evoke another era tonight, as they host an '80s party. There will be dancing and a DJ playing all those great '80s songs and skinny ties and more.
The Tabard
Tabard will host the Ed Riley Trio this evening from 11 to 3. According to social chair Heather Brubaker '97, they will be "rockin' the house." The Ed Riley Trio contains no one named Ed Riley and is not even a trio, but is made up of five Dartmouth '95s who describe their sound as a fusion of funk, blues, jazz and rock 'n' roll.
Zeta Psi
Zete will be hosting a party tonight with a DJ and "smooth brews," according to Social Chair Kevin O'Neil '97. "The party's been brewing for a long time," he said. DJ David Avila will be working the dance floor.
Saturday
Chi Heorot
Heorot is holding a "Beast in the Belly" party from 10 to 3. According to Heorot social chair, "If you don't get it, don't come by." There will be a DJ and dancing as well.
Chi Gamma Epsilon
Chi Gam is having party featuring the Spin Brothers at DJ, and according to Social Chair Andrew Labell '97, "look for other special events throughout the weekend."
Gamma Delta Chi
Saturday night the band The Other Half, who have previously opened for bands such as Dave Matthews' and God Street Wine, visits Gamma Delt from New York City. According to Social Chair Randall Poulin '97, "You've got to be on crack if you miss this one!" The Other Half will play at least two sets, Poulin said.
Kappa Delta Epsilon
KDE will be hosting their annual Green Eggs and Kegs Saturday afternoon from 12 till 3. According to social chair Angel Crain '97, "this event is intended to honor Dr. Seuss and the Greek System as we dye the scrambled eggs and beer green."
Sigma Phi Epsilon
DJ Jazzy Janner will be at Sig Ep from 10 to 3. Expect a good time and some great dancing. According to Social Chair Ed Troya '97, "the party will be the climax of Green Key."
Saturday night 10-3.
Phi Delta Alpha
The brothers of Phi Delt have had enough of party-weekend theme parties. "We're not very thematic," said Social Chair Brian Harvey '97. However they will be partying hard this weekend with a party from 10 to 3.
