Woman assaulted near Occom Pond

An unidentified man assaulted a middle-aged Hanover woman Friday night on Hilton Field Lane near Occom Pond, according to a press release from Hanover Police.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. a white male accosted the woman and attempted to rob her. A struggle ensued and the woman fell to the ground and suffered minor head lacerations, Hanover police dispatcher Lisa Camarra said.

The man carried no weapon and did not succeed in taking anything from the victim, Camarra said.

The perpetrator discontinued the attack and fled the area on foot in the direction of the College-owned Hanover Golf Club, Camarra said.

The attacker was described as wearing a dark-colored ski hat and jacket.

Police officers, including Hanover Police, New Hampshire state police, a Grafton County deputy sheriff and a Vermont state trooper and his dog, participated in a search of the surrounding area, Camarra said.

Camarra said Hanover Police Chief Nick Giaconne will oversee the ongoing investigation. Hanover Police has asked that anyone who was around the area at the time of the crime or who knows anything about it contact the police department.
