Brennan drops out of Assembly race

Jim Brennan '96 withdrew from the Student Assembly presidential race at the end of last term because he said he wanted to have time for more "enjoyable pursuits."

Brennan also said running for Student Assembly office is "very difficult."

"The election process has become very tortuous," he said. "I don't know if I want to put myself through that."

Brennan said he wanted to have time this term and during his senior year to concentrate on his academics, write a thesis and study for the Law School Admissions Test.

Brennan, who announced his candidacy on Feb. 23, said he officially withdrew from the race on March 14, 10 days after potential candidates had to turn in signed petitions. He said he handed in his petition to keep his options open.

Brennan said any one of the three presidential candidates, Brandon del Pozo '96, Phil Ferrera '96 and Jim Rich '96, would do an "admirable job."

Brennan ran for Assembly president last year and finished second in the election.

Also last term, Scott Rowekamp '97 placed his name on the ballot for Student Assembly vice president.

The other vice presidental candidates are juniors Aleph Henestrosa, Kelii Opulauoho and Bill Tovell.

Rowekamp could not be reached for comment.
