Stewart in fair condition

Jonathon Stewart '96 moved out of the intensive care unit at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center yesterday, two days after he fell out of an Alpha Delta fraternity window.

His condition has been upgraded from serious to fair.

Stewart is being treated at DHMC for injuries to his chest, back and spleen. He is now in the neuroscience special care unit, according to Mary Godin, an administrative coordinator at DHMC. Stewart can be more closely observed in the special care unit, Godin said.

Godin said she could not provide more details about Stewart's condition, including how long he would be at the hospital or whether he would need surgery.

Hanover Police said they have no new information about the circumstances surrounding Stewart's fall. A Hanover Police statement said two unidentified women found Stewart near a sidewalk on the southern side of AD, on East Wheelock Street. Apparently, the two women then brought Stewart to the attention of AD members, Police officers said.

AD President Chase Arnold '95 said AD brothers brought Stewart into the house around 3 a.m., and then called an ambulance after deliberating for about 30 minutes whether or not Stewart needed immediate medical attention.
