Lax dominates Yale

Defense was the key to the women's lacrosse team's 9-3 Yale thrashing Tuesday. The win raises the team's Ivy League record to 3-1, 6-3 overall.

Goalie Kim Cohen '94 was the stopper for the Big Green, turning away 18 of 21 shots on goal, all which came in the second half. Dartmouth took advantage of Cohen's stellar play, netting five goals in the first stanza.

Kim Mendelson '97 tallied three goals and Lauren Holleran '95, returning from a sprained ankle suffered in Sunday's game, scored twice. Captain Ellen Bruce '94, Margaret Field '93, Wallis Cook '95, and Maura Schneider '96 each added one goal to the Big Green's final total.

"Yesterday, our attack did not look as good as we have recently. We were not moving the ball or ourselves," Mendelson said. "Our defense played really well though."

"The team didn't play well as a whole but individuals played well at times to pull us through." Coach Amy Patton said.

Sarah Devens '96 was named to the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll for her three-goal, three-assist performance in Dartmouth's 18-7 victory over Cornell University last Sunday.

Women's lacrosse swings back into action today at 3 p.m. when the team challenges 13th-ranked Boston College at Chase Field.
