I Need Somebody's Help

Recently I had some trouble with my computer. This was not nearly as shocking as, say, weather. It doesn't matter what kind of computer you have, or how far into debt it forced you to plunge, or how many languages you can swear at it in (for example: "!a ti no me gusta, computador!"). The fact is it's going to give you some trouble sooner or later, and almost always right after you drop it down a flight of stairs, which is what happened to mine. If there is one thing that has captured the attention and imagination of the American public over the last few months, it would have to be the chase to break Roger Maris' single-season baseball home run record of 61, and who would be the man to perform the feat first: Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa or President Clinton?

'Community' at Dartmouth

If Daniel Webster had been alive two hundred years later and living on-campus, his now-famous speech would probably have been something to the effect of, "As I have said, sir, it is a small college, but there are those who...wait, what the heck happened to my shampoo?" The fact is that while I'd like to remember sophomore summer as the term when I may have skipped class a little too much, played a lot of disc and got a pretty uneven tan in the process, I'll also remember it as the term that I discovered, for better or worse, what some students take to be the meaning of the term "community" at Dartmouth. One of the obvious benefits of on-campus living is a person's proximity to so many fellow undergraduates.
