No. 1 in the country, rugby looks toward national championship

Steamrolling ahead, the rugby team is ranked No. 1 in the second National Intercollegiate Rugby Association poll of the season and is the favorite to take home a national championship. Starting off with a front-heavy fall schedule packed with their toughest competition, Dartmouth opened with a 22-17 win over two-time defending national champion Quinnipiac University before crushing Harvard University 39-10 and the United States Military Academy 45-7.

Women’s rugby No. 1 Dartmouth proved why it deserves the top spot Saturday, dominating No. 4 ranked Harvard University 39-10 at Mignone Field.  The scoring was distributed across the Big Green lineup, with single tries coming from Camille Johnson ’19, Berit DeGrandpre ’20, Lilly Durbin ’21, Idia Ihensekhien ’21 and Eva Klein ’20.

Men's and women's soccer face Princeton University at home

The Big Green men’s and women’s soccer teams each played at home against Princeton University on Saturday. The women’s game ended in a 2-0 loss for the Big Green, continuing a good season for Princeton and dropping Dartmouth to 4-6. The men won 2-1 with an overtime winner by senior Matt Danilack ’18.

After devoting 20 or more hours a week to their sport during school, Dartmouth’s student-athletes can find it difficult to fill the gap left by sports once their college careers end.
