Men’s soccer defeats defending conference-champs Princeton, 1-0

The best birthday present Eric Sachleben ’23 received this year was the one he gave himself: a game-winning goal against the reigning Ivy League champions. Behind Sachleben’s goal in the 72nd minute, the Dartmouth men’s soccer team (4-3-1, 1-0-0 Ivy) opened Ivy League play with a 1-0 win versus Princeton University (5-3-0, 0-1-0) on Saturday.

Field hockey falls to Princeton, beats UMass Lowell in overtime

On Saturday, the field hockey team matched up against No. 10 Princeton University in its first game of Ivy League competition this season and walked away with a 4-0 loss. The next day, the Big Green responded in force with a 4-3 overtime win against the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

If anyone turned to the sports section to try to get away from resume reviews and cover letter writing, you’re out of luck because I’m writing this to put off doing the same thing. In the spirit of the season, I wanted to take a look at some of the players in the National Football League who had a non-standard career path and found success in the league.
