The Ivy League title is still up in the air, as is the Big Green women's soccer team's shot at the NCAA tournament, but give them credit for putting themselves in a position that almost any team in the nation would envy. With five games remaining on its schedule, Dartmouth, who is ranked ninth in the latest national poll, has not won anything yet, but could not have asked for much more from the first two-thirds of their season. The Big Green are a perfect 6-0 at home and have yet to give up a goal at Chase Field. They are also a perfect 4-0 in Ancient Eight play heading into Saturday's duel with Cornell. Dartmouth is 10-1-1 overall with their lone blemishes coming against national powerhouses Stanford (1-1 tie) and William & Mary (3-2 loss). All signs point to a Halloween matchup with the 23rd-ranked Harvard Crimson in Cambridge with the winner probably taking home the Ivy championship and the trip to the NCAA Championships. The Big Green enter the contest as the favorites with their high-octane, yet balanced offense.
With eight wins and a tie in 10 games, the Dartmouth men's soccer team has experienced great success so far this season.

The Big Green field hockey team shocked the University of New Hampshire, ranked 19th in the nation, with a 2-1 victory in double overtime yesterday in Durham. Dartmouth men's soccer beat Boston College. Literally. A bruised and battered Golden Eagle team limped off the Big Green's Chase Field, licking its wounds from a demoralizing defeat. Chris Pedrick '99 broke up a scoreless affair with under two minutes remaining, bouncing in a spectacular bicycle kick off a Ben Kennedy '01 pass, while a pack of red and white shirts gave chase.
It's not easy replacing an All-Ivy League kicker who set both league and school records over his career. But junior Adam Csizinsky's 22-yard game-winning field goal in overtime demonstrated that the junior has emerged out of the shadow of Dave Regula '98. He has also turned into one of the Big Green's most reliable players. Csizinsky -- or Csiz as his teammates call him -- kicked two key field goals in the 13-10 win over Lafayette on Saturday.

The Dartmouth Women's volleyball team continued its tear through its northeastern competition with a 17-15, 15-6, 16-14 victory over the University of Vermont on Sunday. The Big Green's eighth victory in a row tied a team record set last year. "Everyone has really concentrated on their part, but at the same time knowing we have to work together as a team," Felicity Kolp '99 said.
