With the doubleheader split, the Big Green (7-13, 3-7 Ivy) falls to sixth place in the Ivy League, tied with Brown (11-11, 3-7 Ivy). Yale (15-4, 9-1 Ivy), with its fourth straight win, remains atop the Ivy standings after the weekend action. After two tough losses on the road last week, including a close four-set defeat at Princeton, Dartmouth looked to rebound at home with renewed energy. During Friday's match against Brown, the Big Green came out with solid performances in the first set.
Dartmouth women's soccer played 110 hard-fought minutes against No. 25 Harvard on Saturday afternoon but was unable to pull away with the lead as the Big Green earned a 1-1 draw on the team's Senior Day. While the Big Green never trailed in the game, it was far from one-sided as the Lions (10-4, 1-4 Ivy) stayed strong throughout regulation and the 12 minutes of overtime before Meghan Everett '12 sealed the Dartmouth victory. The goal came when captain Kristen McCormick '09 guided a pass across the field and through the Columbia defense to Everett, who did not think twice, putting away the goal in the lower corner and making the Lions pay for their mishap.
This year's World Series has been refreshing. After watching last year's lopsided four-game "competition," it's been a treat to watch.
