SAE national suspends members facing charges

Six Greek organizations may face Police charges

|

The town of Hanover is "following up on" allegations that six Greek organizations have engaged in criminal activity, acting Dean of the College Sylvia Spears said in an interview, although she declined to specify which organizations are involved in the allegations. If official charges are made, these organizations may be subject to fines and other consequences, Spears said. "I imagine that there are some legal ramifications for the [national corporations], but those kinds of things are certainly between the state of the town and the corporations," Spears said.

Fourth arrested after drug incident at SAE

A fourth student was arrested Monday morning in connection to the alleged May 13 cocaine incident at Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, according to a Hanover Police affidavit. Sarah Koo '10 was arrested for cocaine possession after being identified from a police photo line-up on May 19 by another female student.

A fourth student was arrested today in connection to a drug incident last week, Hanover Police announced in a press release. Sarah Koo '10 was arrested Monday for possession of cocaine in connection to an incident in which several student were observed with cocaine in the pool room of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity on May 13. Two other students Brian Shea '10 and Andrew Lohse '12 were charged with cocaine possession May 19.

"The vast majority of the recommendations are great," Brace said.

Attorney general opposes CMC affiliation

New Hampshire Attorney General Michael Delaney announced on Friday his objection to the planned association between Catholic Medical Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, the Associated Press reported. Executives at both Dartmouth-Hitchcock and CMC were "surprised and disappointed" by the decision, and plan to follow through with their affiliation despite Delaney's opposition, the Associated Press reported. Delaney said that what both organizations are calling an affiliation actually constitutes an acquisition of CMC, which is prohibited by state laws, according to a press release from the attorney general's office.

Harassment allegedly followed drug report

A student who reported drug use by two members of his fraternity to College Safety and Security was allegedly subjected to repeated harassment by one of the students charged with the offense and another fraternity member, the Valley News reported Friday. In an affidavit filed with the Lebanon District Court, Hanover Police reported that Philip Aubart '10 called Safety and Security after observing four students with a small amount of cocaine in the pool room of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, according to the Valley News. Brian Shea '10 and Andrew Lohse '12 were subsequently charged with cocaine possession. Aubart, formerly the house manager for SAE, said in the affidavit that he had previously warned fraternity members against using drugs in the physical plant's common rooms, the Valley news reported. After reporting the incident to Safety and Security, who subsequently turned the case over to Hanover Police, Aubart was allegedly subject to harassment by Lohse and Clark Warthen '10, according to the Valley news.
