The Dartmouth field hockey team couldn't rebound yesterday after falling to the University of Connecticut on Saturday. The Big Green lost a heartbreaker, 2-1, in a hotly contested game with an extremely talented and nationally ranked University of Maine squad.

In the next several weeks these pages will feature an enormous amount of material on the impending presidential elections. Columnists will tell you why you should or should not vote for this or that candidate. Some will woo you, cajole you and encourage you to vote for Dole, while others will, with equal fervor, remind you that Clinton is a far more suitable candidate for the presidency. On the whole, you will be left utterly confused so that the choice you make on that final day will entirely depend on which side of the bed you wake up on. This is a rather sad state of affairs, but it is bound to happen if you do not know exactly what you are looking for in a president.

Women's Tennis: The Big Green women split 1-1 this weekend. On Friday, Dartmouth downed the University of Massachusetts 9-0, but then fell 5-4 to Boston University the following afternoon. Kallie Buehler '97 and Michell Bray '00 were the only players to win in singles both days. Bray teamed with Courtney Dill '99 to win at number three doubles both days, while Allison Taff '00 and Jennifer Lange '00 were two-day winners at flight two doubles. The road trip to Columbia and Cornell is dreaded by all Dartmouth teams, but the perils of the women's volleyball team over the weekend is one for the books. The Big Green wouldn't let the events get them down, and in fact, used them as a motivating factor in wins against the Lions and Big Red. The wins pushed Dartmouth's overall record to 11-6, and 2-1 in the Ivy League.

The Big Green put together a near flawless effort against Holy Cross by running a balanced offense that chewed up yards and the clock and coming up with timely turnovers to humiliate the Crusaders 35-7 at Memorial Field on Saturday, extending their unbeaten streak to 11 games. Dartmouth is 4-0 for the first time since 1977.
