Over the Weekend

Women's Tennis: The Big Green women split 1-1 this weekend. On Friday, Dartmouth downed the University of Massachusetts 9-0, but then fell 5-4 to Boston University the following afternoon. Kallie Buehler '97 and Michell Bray '00 were the only players to win in singles both days. Bray teamed with Courtney Dill '99 to win at number three doubles both days, while Allison Taff '00 and Jennifer Lange '00 were two-day winners at flight two doubles. Cross Country: The Big Green men placed fourth at the Keene State Invitational Saturday with 76 points. The top nine Dartmouth runners were resting in preparation for this Friday's New England Championships. Keene State won the Invite with 43. It was followed by Tufts and Brandeis. Senior Bobby Matthews led the Big Green, placing 10th in 25:59. Sean Cunningham '97 followed closely in 11th.

Men's Tennis: The Big Green pounded Georgetown 7-0 in the first round of the ECAC Championships Friday night before falling to the University of Pennsylvania 4-3 the next afternoon. The Quakers swept the doubles, winning the coveted doubles point which ended up being the deciding factor. Number four player Avery Rueb '98, number five player Rob Simik '99 and number six player freshman Andrew Evans were all two-day singles winners. For complete story, see tomorrow's issue.

Sailing: The Big Green placed second out of eight teams at the Ivy League Championships at the University of Pennsylvania this weekend. In the A Division Jon DeSantis '98 and Erin Myers '00 competed for the Big Green, while Jimmy Franzone '97 and Shannon Laughlin '98 raced together in the B Division. Brown won the regatta by a narrow margin.
