Major Lazer performance canceled

Major Lazer canceled their performance originally slated for Green Key weekend, Programming Board Chair Alex Martin '13 said. Programming Board is still in the process of securing another artist to play alongside ASAP Rocky May 17.

"Major Lazer has canceled, and we're in the process of replacing the artist," Martin said. "Things haven't been exactly finalized."

Programming Board had planned to host Major Lazer this fall, but the group faulted on a signed contract due to scheduling conflicts. Based on this experience, Programming Board negotiated a contract with the artist that stipulated payment would be provided only after a performance at the College and made sure to schedule two artists in the case of cancellation.

"We spoke to their agent directly, and we made them aware that we were weary about them cancelling," Martin said. "We made sure things were safe on our side, and that's why we're in the position to book a second artist."

A list of tour dates on Major Lazer's Facebook page lists no performances at the College or on May 17.

The Green Key concert, which will be held on Gold Coast Lawn, is the first large-scale event Programming Board has hosted since Avicii performed last winter.
