To the Editor:
I, too, find the College's refusal to establish a Violence Prevention Center difficult to imagine, as pointed out by theater professor Peter Hackett in his letter on July 17. But, perhaps not, since a recent campus-wide email from the Dean of the College pointing students and others to the harm reduction proposals web page, if followed, will reveal no mention of sexual violence in any of the proposed reforms (which focus solely on hazing and alcohol). If, as the web page states, the harm reduction initiative aims "at creating a culture of individual responsibility and mutual respect across the entire campus," shouldn't that culture also include the members of the College's administration and Board of Trustees as stewards of the safety of Dartmouth women subjected to that violence?
