Homemade videos like this are usually made by aspiring internet celebreties, but Deschanel and Gordon-Levitt are already megastars, which makes this video especially cool and intimate.
But particularly remarkable is that Gordon-Levitt does this sort of thing all the time on his website, hitRECord.org. With over 40,000 contributors, he blogs and posts videos regularly for fans and fellow artists. He also has two Twitter accounts and two Tumblr accounts, one for work and one for personal use. It is refreshing to see down-to-earth celebrities actually taking the time to personally get on the web. In the video's accompanying comments, Deschanel explains that the pals have actually known each other for years.
