To the Editor:
Several recent articles and editorials ("Departments unveil interdisciplinary FSP in India," April 4; "India FSP and Student Demand," April 6) have inaccurately implied that the Foreign Study Program India initiative has been primarily driven by students or only addressed by the senior administration when students became more formally involved.
It is true that many students are interested in such a program and that some members of the Pan Asian Council have conducted research in support of the South Asia FSP, but the majority of the initiative and hard work has come from faculty who believe that expanding into India would strengthen the Dartmouth curriculum.
I feel it is very important to properly recognize and appreciate the many Dartmouth faculty who have worked over several years to develop this important academic initiative that will benefit our entire campus and college community.
