To the Editor:
So, Dean Nelson, five or six "serious injuries" have occurred in the past decade as a result of the rope swing ("Swing's risks force removal," Aug. 6, 2003)? As a member of the Dartmouth Ski Patrol for the past three years, I can tell you that we handle five or six serious injuries at the Dartmouth Skiway within the span of a few weeks, or less if it's been busy. All winter. Every winter. And some of these injuries happen to beginning skiers who might not have completely understood the risks. And yet they go on living their lives, wiser for the experience. Incredible!
I suppose the Skiway will be the next thing the College shuts down.
