Are Mormons Christian?

To the Editor:

Although Mormons call themselves Christians, the fundamental difference between the two is that Mormons are polytheistic, while Christians are monotheistic. Official Latter-day Saints doctrine, dictated by Brigham Young, is as follows: "As man now is, God once was. As God now is, man may become," while the Christian Bible declares the existence of one and only one God. Summer Christian Fellowship therefore cannot support the doctrine of someone who is polytheistic.
