To the Editor:
The time has come for change: we must capture the energy, the momentum, of last Friday's protests and direct it where it will do the most good. Organized, we have the power to accomplish our goals.
To this end, I announce the creation of a new coalition, Students for Change. The time for change is now -- only the status quo will be left behind. SFC will push College President James Wright, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, William H. King Jr. '63 and all their cronies to accept what we students have known for some time -- that Dartmouth is past due for a spring cleaning. We will work (with or without the administration) to pull the plug that has kept the Dartmouth tub stagnant for all these years.
We must replace the old murkiness with new water, of a temperature acceptable to all, regardless of eye color, shoe size, or sexual orientation. Only in new water will Dartmouth flourish.
Some nit-pick our cause -- they are just another roadblock, a wad of hair in the drain, and will be the most detrimental to leaving the old Dartmouth of hatred and argument behind.
But we must act while the time is right. Those who care about Dartmouth and their fellow students should join me in the present. Change now, specifics later!
