Clarification: WDCR and WFRD are More Than Two Separate Stations

To The Editor:

I would like to clarify some of the points I made or may have implied in my most recent column concerning broadcasting at Dartmouth ("What's The Frequency, Kenneth," September 29, The Dartmouth).

Both WDCR and WFRD are student-run organizations on the third floor of Robinson Hall. Although it is a commercial station, WFRD only pays its DJ's during interim. The FM station, as I was informed by General Manager Brent Laffoon '98, needs to make enough money to cover the operating costs of the AM station; none of its decisions are motivated by profit.

As I implied in my article, I believe that newcomers to the radio industry would have a better and easier time working on the more laid-back and format-free AM station. However, I encourage anyone interested to get involved with and/or support both stations; this is the only way for Dartmouth Broadcasting to maintain, and hopefully in the future increase, its success.
