To the Editor:
I've been hearing a lot about why the Women's Resource Center needs to be relocated: "The Choates are an unacceptable, isolated part of campus."
That sounded funny to me, because I live in the Choates. More than that, I hear that the WRC believes that by being placed in the Choates, the College is showing no regard for it.
But what about me? Does the College hate me? If so, it must be acting in a criminal manner to the students in the River. Not only that, the College has gone out of it's way to deny me and many of my classmates housing next year. Who should feel unwanted?
The WRC is placed in the same area as over 200 students. More than that, it has housing next year. Who is wanted and who isn't? Perhaps the WRC should try to help the people that it's there for -- supposedly both men and women -- find housing next year instead of complaining about itself.
Finally, I would say to the WRC that space in Hanover seems to be at a premium. The College doesn't even house all of it's students and those that it houses are often placed in places just as far or even farther than the WRC.
Has anyone out there ever thought that Dartmouth would be a nicer place if everyone tried to help each other instead of bettering themselves?
