Medical school student dies in Hanover

Kelsie Gleason, a second-year student at the Geisel School of Medicine, died Saturday on campus.

Gleason’s death was ruled a suicide, said Kim Fallon, chief forensic investigator at the New Hampshire Medical Examiner’s office.

Gleason, ofNaperville, Illinois, studied biology and Hispanic studies atIllinois Wesleyan University before coming to Geisel.

College President Phil Hanlon announced Gleason's death in an email to campus on Saturday evening.

Dartmouth will hold a ceremony in honor of Gleason in January, Geisel interim dean Duane Compton wrote in an email Sunday afternoon. Geisel Year Two midterm break is from Nov. 25 through Nov. 30.

The College arranged counseling hours for students and community members on Sunday.

The national suicide prevention lifeline, which is staffed 24/7 with trained counselors, is 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
