Arts Explores: BVAC Sculpture Studio, a creative arsenal

In the sculpture studios on the first floor of the Black Family Visual Arts Center, students’ erratic, twisting sculptures line the room’s perimeter like suspended dreams. Anatomical skeletons patiently wait to inspire and guide the next class. A huge sculpted hand emerges from a table nearby, outspread as if in expectation, and across the room a life-size cardboard figurine is splayed face first on a table in a sadly relatable facsimilie of a student passed out while studying.

Filter Theatre's 'Twelfth Night' pushes boundaries of theater

Often in theater a web of conventions, precedents, proprieties and restrictions surrounds the stage. This holds especially true with the exalted works of William Shakespeare, which have been marbleized by centuries of prestige. British stage company Filter Theatre crashed through that web in their raucous, heady rendition of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” (1602) last Friday and Saturday.

Film screening will display student animations

Ten undergraduate and graduate students will screen animations tonight that they have been creating over the past several wekks of the term as part of the culminating experience for Film Studies 35: “Animation, Principles and Practices.”
