Zonia Moore / The Dartmouth Staff For their last two away games of the season, the men's basketball team faced off against two Ivy League opponents, the University of Pennsylvania on Friday and Princeton University on Saturday. The Big Green had two nail-biting matches with the Quakers (8-20, 5-6 Ivy) and the Tigers (16-9, 9-2 Ivy), yielding a 69-64 Dartmouth victory against Penn that snapped a five-game losing streak for the Big Green.
Zonia Moore / The Dartmouth Staff After a disappointing loss against Colgate University last weekend, the Big Green men's lacrosse team scored their first season win and defeated the University of Vermont 13-8 in a dramatic Tuesday afternoon game at Scully-Fahey Field. Midfielders Nikki Dysenchuk '13 and Jack Connolly '16 and attackers Chris Costabile '13 and Jeff Perkins '14 each scored two goals apiece, while attackers Adam Hull '15 and Adam Fishman '15 and midfielder Brendan Rotanz '14 all rang in with their first goals of the season. Despite a slow first half, the Big Green proved itself in the second half with four goals in the third quarter that turned into an insurmountable deficit for UVM in the fourth quarter, during which Dartmouth made an impressive seven additional goals. "It was certainly great to get a win at home after our game against Colgate," goalkeeper Colin Heffernan '15 said.
With the spring season rapidly approaching, the men's lacrosse team hopes to improve on last season's losing record, while the women's team hopes to build off last season's success, highlighted by a thrilling 6-4 victory over the University of Pennsylvania, when the Big Green clinched the Ivy League Tournament title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The women, ranked number 12 last year, hope to improve on last year's overall 12-5, 5-2 Ivy performance.
Yomalis Rosario / The Dartmouth Following top finishes at the Dartmouth Relays last week, the Big Green track and field teams took home big wins in multiple events at the Boston University Terrier Invitational this past weekend. Leading the Big Green men was John Bleday '14, last season's indoor 3000-meter individual Ivy League Heptagonal Championships winner, who took the top spot in the same event with a 7:59.33.
