I write in response to Katie Greenwood's Jan. 30 column in The Dartmouth, "System Failure." While pro- and anti-Greek sentiment graces the pages of The Dartmouth all too often, Ms. Greenwood's piece is noteworthy because of its inaccuracy, hypocrisy and vindictive tone.
In a rough draft of its report to the College, the Greek Life Steering Committee proposed, among other things, that a minimum GPA of 2.3 be required of any student who wishes to rush a Coed Fraternity Sorority Council House. While I sympathize with the idea that membership in a Greek house is a privilege and not a right, I believe that it should be a privilege contingent on behavior and not academic performance.
I have only lived on Webster Avenue for about eight weeks, but it suddenly feels like a lot longer.
There is no sexual assault at Dartmouth. No one is ever assaulted here, no one harassed, and certainly no student ever raped. Or maybe if she was grabbed, she asked for it.
