Despite penalty-filled performance, football holds on to defeat Columbia 13-9

In what can only be described as an unforeseen rarity in the context of a dominant 2015 season, the football team — which had previously been blowing out opponents by an average of almost 25 points — experienced its first close call of the season on Saturday against Columbia University. \n Leading by four with four minutes remaining, the offense had an opportunity to seal the win over the Lions.

Rowing teams post solid performances at Head of Charles

The men’s heavyweight and lightweight and women’s rowing teams kicked off their 2015-2016 season this past weekend at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Massachusetts, providing the first glimpse of the teams in action as they head into their busy fall schedules. \n Conditions for the weekend were fair and similar to the ones the team has encountered on the Charles River in the past, which allowed the boats to row in an environment they were prepared to encounter. \n “The conditions were solid,” heavyweight rower Tommy Kiernan ’17 said.

Volleyball moves to solo first in Ivy League after two-win weekend

This past weekend, the women’s volleyball team traveled to New York and picked up victories against Cornell University (4-13, 0-7 Ivy) and Columbia University (5-11, 3-4 Ivy) to stretch its win-streak to five games and climb to first place in the Ivy League. The women (9-7, 6-1 Ivy) traveled to Ithaca, New York, to face Cornell, a team which was determined to break its seven-game losing streak.

Women’s rugby beats Harvard 20-15

In its fifth game of the season, Dartmouth’s women’s rugby team (4-1, 4-0 Ivy) remained undefeated in the Ivy League with its victory over Harvard University (3-2, 2-2 Ivy) at Brophy Field. \n “I am really happy about being 4-0 in the Ivy League,” head coach Katie Dowty said.
