Eliminated sports teams campaign for reinstatement

Following last week’s announcement that five varsity sports — men’s and women’s golf, lightweight rowing and men’s and women’s swimming and diving — are being eliminated, athletes and alumni of these teams have rallied together in hopes of reinstatement.

Dartmouth cuts five sports teams and closes Hanover Country Club

Dartmouth announced this afternoon that it will eliminate the men’s and women’s golf, men’s lightweight rowing and men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs, effective immediately, in order to increase flexibility in admissions and ease its budget deficit. In addition, the Hanover Country Club will permanently close.

Ivy League cancels fall sports, no competition until 2021

The Ivy League announced this evening that all intercollegiate athletic activity will be canceled for the fall in response to growing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. The feasibility of moving fall sports to the spring, as well as plans for winter and spring sports, will be determined at a later date.
