Women’s squash 2nd in Kurtz Cup, men’s Hoehn Cup starts today

The women’s squash team travelled to Harvard University to participate in the College Squash Association’s Women’s National Team Championships Feb. 13-15. Seeded at the top of the B Division and ninth overall, the team reached the finals for the Kurtz Cup, losing to Stanford University 6-3. Men’s squash has its first round of competition in the CSA Men’s National Team Championships today.

Track and field competes in Valentine Invitational

Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled south this past weekend to compete in Boston University’s Valentine Invitational. While the event was non-scoring, both teams finished with strong results in the final meet before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, highlighted by a new school record set by high jumper Kaitlin Whitehorn ’16.

Dartmouth rugby and USA Eagles compete in Las Vegas

Madison Hughes ’15, who was selected to captain the USA Eagles sevens squad earlier this year, reunited with the Dartmouth Rugby Football Club this past weekend in Las Vegas. The reunion came with the coinciding of the 2015 Las Vegas Invitational and 2015 USA Sevens international rugby tournament as part of the Sevens World Series. Hughes was selected to lead the team for the series’ fifth consecutive leg and captained the Eagles to their best World Series finish since 2010. ?

Men’s tennis takes second at ECAC tournament

The men’s tennis team traveled to Boston over the weekend to compete in the ECAC Indoor Tennis Championship. After defeating St. John’s University 4-3 and shutting out Brown University 4-0, the Big Green suffered a 0-5 loss against Harvard University in the finals. The men are now 5-4 in their season.

Women’s basketball splits weekend, ends losing streak

Looking to regain its early season form and snap a five-game losing streak, the Dartmouth women’s basketball team headed to New York this past weekend for the middle two games in its Ivy League schedule. While the first matchup ended in yet another loss — 66-46 to Cornell University — the women delivered a monumental victory in the second, edging Columbia University 61-54 in overtime.

Women’s hockey wins two on road

The women’s ice hockey team swept the competition this weekend, winning away games at both Colgate and Cornell Universities. With the back-to-back victories the Big Green (13-11-2, 9-9-2 ECAC) cemented its entry into the Eastern Coast Athletic Conference tournament.

Men’s basketball snaps five-game losing streak

The men’s basketball team returned home to Leede Arena this past weekend for the first leg of a two-weekend Ivy League homestand. The Big Green (9-13, 2-6 Ivy) showed mixed results over the weekend, taking a heartbreaking loss in overtime to Cornell University (12-12, 4-4 Ivy) 81-72 before stifling Columbia University (11-11, 3-5 Ivy) in a 61-49 victory.

One-on-One with Kathy Dzienkowski '16

This week I sat down with softball catcher, Kathy Dzienkowski ’16. The 2014 Ivy League Champions open the 2015 season this weekend in Tampa, Florida at the University of South Florida Wilson-DeMarini Tournament taking on Auburn University, Marshall University and USF.

After a day of competition, the Dartmouth club fencing team placed first among club teams and eighth overall.

Club fencing team hosts first tournament since 2008

The men and women’s club fencing teams hosted their first tournament since 2008 this Saturday on the Alumni Gym basketball courts, the last of three Northeast Fencing Conference tournaments for the 2014-2015 season. \n The tournament was attended by 10 colleges, including both student-organized club teams and NCAA varsity fencing programs.

Women’s tennis upsets opponents to win ECAC tournament

The women’s tennis team traveled to Ithaca, New York this past weekend to compete in the three-day ECAC Division I Indoor Championship, bringing home its first ECAC Winter Championship title. Dartmouth entered the tournament seeded fourth, defeating No. 5 seeded Brown University and pulling upset wins over No. 1 seeded Princeton and No. 2 seeded Columbia Universities. The three victories extended the women’s stellar season record to 8-0.

Men’s basketball drops two more on road for four straight losses

After suffering two defeats last weekend, the men’s basketball continued their streak of losses by falling to both Yale and Brown Universities this past weekend. Despite Miles Wright ’18 averaging 20.5 points per game — 20 against Yale and 21 against Brown — the team now carries a four-game losing streak on the road.

This week, I sat down with swimming’s Taylor Yamahata ’18. This weekend, Yamahata led the Big Green in a narrow loss to the University of Connecticut, finishing with individual victories in the 200-yard IM and the 100- and 200-yard backstroke.
