There is really very little that students should have to do in this election. The trend of collecting signatures from prominent students in support of the pro-board packing and the anti-board packing schemes, which was started rather ignobly by agents in Dartmouth Undying, is frankly silly.

While the Dartmouth Class of 2012 admissions statistics -- including records of 16,536 applicants and just a 13.2 percent acceptance rate -- portend a bright future for the College, they disguise a problem that subverts the very purpose of this esteemed institution and has become far too widely tolerated: high acceptance rate of legacy students. The College acknowledged that the acceptance rate for legacy applicants (29.7 percent) ran over twice as high as that for everyone else (12.7 percent) and that the total number of legacies admitted was the highest in five years.

After many discussions on the topic, I am moved to respond to the Hood Museum's recent event, "Hip-Hop in the Hood." The party was meant to celebrate the opening of its new exhibit, "Black Womanhood: Images, Icons, and Ideologies of the African Body." Instead, it served to commodify and objectify the very group of women it claimed to represent. First, I should say that I love the artwork in the "Black Womanhood" exhibit.
