Jessica Smith '05 sustained several broken ribs and a broken neck when the Chevrolet Cavalier she was driving struck a moose on Interstate 89 late Monday night. Smith, who was returning from Manchester airport with Samantha Schilling '05 and Jenny Jun '05, remained in the intensive care unit at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center until Tuesday night, when she was moved to the Neural Science Unit.

The Dartmouth community has lost one of its talented artists and musicians with the passing of Christina Porter '06 Sunday, Jan. 16, 2004, in the critical care unit of the JFK Johnson Medical Center in Edison, N.J. Porter died of severe head trauma sustained while skiing at the Dartmouth Skiway last February.

While the Grafton County Attorney's Office determined there was insufficient evidence to support a criminal charge, it is not yet known if either organization or involved individuals will face College discipline.

A fraudulent check-cashing scheme at local credit unions has Brattleboro, Vt., police seeking arrest warrants for Joshua Thibodeau, 24, and Richard Berry, 39. The pair cashed more than $20,000 worth of fraudulent checks at various locations in the two states, including credit unions in Hanover and Lebanon, between August and September 2004.
