Dartmouth is now on a seven-game losing streak, with the loss to the Bulldogs (10-15, 4-4 Ivy) marking its 10 consecutive defeat in Ivy League play, dating back to last season. In addition, the Big Green has yet to win on the road this season.

Big Green Soccer standout Craig Henderson '09 was named to New Zealand's 17-man roster for a World Cup warm up match against Mexico on March 3 in Los Angeles, according to IvyLeagueSports.com. This is Henderson's first call-up to New Zealand's highest squad, after representing New Zealand in the U-20 World Cup and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. With the 2010 World Cup approaching in June, a strong performance in Mexico could help Henderson secure a spot on New Zealand's World Cup roster. Henderson finished his standout Dartmouth career last fall, earning All-America and All-Ivy League honors during his tenure as the team's co-captain.

When Big Green hockey fans dress up for a game, it is usually in green and white. But on Friday night, in a sea of black Northfaces and grey hoodies, community member John Smyrski sat and cheered on Dartmouth's women hockey with a hot pink feather boa wrapped around his neck for the annual "Pink at the Rink" event.

Big Green women's hockey player Sarah Parsons '10 is among the 78 nominees for the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge. Online voting for the teams began on Feb. 1 and will go through noon on Feb. 15. Parsons is one of 15 players on the Women's East team, which will face the Women's West team. Voters can select up to two goalies and six players for each team. The Frozen Four Skills Challenge will be held on April 9 in Detroit, Mich. on the Friday night of the Frozen Four national championship. Other Ivy League nominees for the Womens East team include Alyssa Clarke from Yale University and Anna McDonald from Harvard University. The teams will be announced at the end of February, according to NCAA.com.

Harvard (12-5-4, 9-5-2 ECAC Hockey), known for dominating the shot count, ended the game with only 28. The Crimson capitalized on its fewer opportunities, however, as the team lit up the scoreboard four times to finish the game with a win.

Republican R. Nelson "Oz" Griebel '71, a Big Green pitcher from 1969-1971, announced his intention to run for the governorship of Connecticut on Thursday, Courant.com reported. Griebel, the president and CEO of MetroHartford Alliance an economic development organization posted a .833 winning percentage and is second on the all-time Big Green list in that statistic. He was a member of the 1970 Ivy League champion baseball squad that made it to the College World Series. Griebel was a multi-sport athlete, also playing as a guard on the Dartmouth football team during his sophomore year. As a Dartmouth legacy, Griebel was born with ties to the Big Green sports community his father, Richard Griebel '46, was a member of the Big Green men's basketball and football teams. This is Oz Griebel's first attempt at running for a public office, and his platform will center on alleviating the state's budget problems, according to Courant.com.

The music business has its groupies and the Twitter scene calls out to followers, but the biggest fans of Dartmouth sports are most commonly called devoted parents and there is no shortage of loyal athletes' parents making extraordinary efforts to attend as many of their children's Big Green sporting events as possible.
