Big Green women's hockey player Sarah Parsons '10 is among the 78 nominees for the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge. Online voting for the teams began on Feb. 1 and will go through noon on Feb. 15. Parsons is one of 15 players on the Women's East team, which will face the Women's West team. Voters can select up to two goalies and six players for each team. The Frozen Four Skills Challenge will be held on April 9 in Detroit, Mich. on the Friday night of the Frozen Four national championship. Other Ivy League nominees for the Womens East team include Alyssa Clarke from Yale University and Anna McDonald from Harvard University. The teams will be announced at the end of February, according to NCAA.com.

The Cornell University men's basketball team is ranked in the top 25 teams in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll for the first time in the history of the program, IvyLeagueSports.com reported. The Big Red received 53 votes, placing it in the No. 25 spot. The team was last ranked in a national poll in 1951 when it was the No. 14 team in the nation according to the Associated Press, according to IvyLeagueSports.com. The Big Red (20-3, 6-0 Ivy) overpowered the Big Green in January, 71-37, and is set to face Dartmouth again in Hanover on Feb. 20. Cornell has won the Ivy League Championship the last two seasons and with a perfect conference record thus far is on track for a three-peat this year.

Sunday night's Super Bowl matchup featured 2009 Brown University graduate Colin Cloherty. After being cut by five teams during his rookie season, Cloherty is now the reserve tight end for the Indianapolis Colts, The Baltimore Sun reported. This marks the third straight year in which Bears alumni have played in the Super Bowl, according to BrownBears.com. Linebacker Zak DeOssie played for the New York Giantsin 2008, while wide receiver Sean Morey played for the Arizona Cardinals in 2009. In his senior year at Brown, the Bears won the Ivy League Championship and Cloherty led the league's tight ends with 418 receiving yards.
