Assisted by Evan Stephens '11 and Matt Reber '11 during a power play, Jones scored with just over two minutes remaining in the first period to tie the game against the Tigers (9-10-2, 5-8-1 ECAC Hockey) at 1-1.

"The guys I was on the ice with made a good play to get the puck to me and it worked out from there," Jones said. "Obviously, it's really cool to be a part of that tradition [of throwing tennis balls at Princeton], and it was awesome to have that support."

An apparent goal ruled dead right outside Princeton's goal caused a false alarm and resulted in a premature flurry of tennis balls unleashed from the Big Green student section.

With Dartmouth trailing 4-2 during a charged third period, assistant captain Scott Fleming '11 slapped a rebound into the net off an initial shot by Adam Estoclet '11 to notch a shorthanded goal. This tightened the Tigers' lead to 4-3 with less than six minutes remaining in the game.

"We were all pretty excited and thought we were going to tie it up, but it wasn't there," Fleming said. "We had a couple of mental mistakes."

Fleming leads the Big Green with 10 goals so far this season while Estoclet's 20 points make him the top scorer.

Princeton deadened Dartmouth's comeback effort with an empty-net goal, 18:45 into the third period, to establish a 5-3 lead after the Big Green pulled netminder James Mello '12 in an attempt to spark offense.

The Big Green capitalized on both of its power plays during the night, as assistant captain Joe Gaudet '10 scored Dartmouth's second goal 11:30 into the second period off of a pass from Nick Walsh '12 on the one-man advantage.

Although Jody O'Neill '12 started the game in net, Princeton scored three goals in the second period to force a change to Mello.

"We just have to worry about what we do we can't worry about who is in net," Fleming said. "They are both really good goalies and we need to find one who gets hot and takes us into the end."

The Big Green also switched goalies in Friday's 4-3 victory over Quinnipiac (13-11-2, 7-7 ECAC Hockey). Mello played the first two periods in net and made 20 saves, but O'Neill finished out the game, pushing away 16 shots.

Mello earned his fourth start of the season against the Bobcats before being taken out of the net due to injury, head coach Bob Gaudet said. O'Neill has started 17 games this season.

"[Mello] is a great goalie, and I just haven't had the spot for him to go in," coach Gaudet said. "He played great in both games last weekend and in relief against Harvard. Today, O'Neill came in and made some really good saves."

So far this year, Mello has posted a save percentage of .936, while O'Neill has a percentage of .890. At this point in the season, however, O'Neill has still played over 70 percent of minutes in net.

With 4:27 remaining in the game against Quinnipiac, Estoclet drilled the game-winning goal off of passes from Fleming and captain Peter Boldt '10 to put Dartmouth up 4-3.

"The team has played fantastic hockey for a long stretch now," coach Gaudet said. "Tonight, we played a really good team that started the season at 12-1 and they are very skilled."

While on the power play, Stephens gave the Big Green a 3-2 lead 7:03 into the second period before the Bobcats' Russell Goodman closed the gap six minutes later with a game-tying goal.

Dustin Walsh '13 notched Dartmouth's first two goals, with brother Nick Walsh earning assists on both.

The Bobcats potted their first goal to tie the game at 1-1, just 40 seconds after Dustin Walsh put the Big Green onto the scoreboard 3:00 into the first period.

With the 4-3 victory, Dartmouth avenged a 4-2 loss dealt by the Bobcats earlier in the season.

"When they have goaltending like they did tonight, they are going to win a lot of games," Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold said. "We beat them earlier in the year, but I thought they outplayed us. They can beat anyone in our league."

This week, the Big Green takes to the road to face Ivy foes No. 6 Yale University at 7 p.m. on Friday in New Haven, Conn., and Brown University at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Providence, R.I. The team hopes to improve on its record of only 2-8 on the road so far this season.

Earlier in the season, the Big Green had a break-out 9-4 win against Brown, when Estoclet notched a hat trick and Reber posted five points.

Dartmouth lost to Yale earlier this season, 4-2, in a heated battle with both teams combining for 19 penalties.

"We always have a pretty good rivalry with [Yale] so we are looking forward to playing them," Fleming said. "[Brown's] coach is our old assistant coach, so it's always fun to play him and hopefully we can get the better of both of them next week."
