Both teams began the game aggressively, with Dartmouth's first scoring opportunity coming in the third minute. Marina Moschitto '14 played a through ball to Chrissy Lozier '14, who used some fancy footwork to sidestep sophomore goalkeeper Bethany Kanten. Lozier's shot just missed the goal, hitting the left post.

Harvard coach Tim Murphy gave the Big Green credit for its tough effort in all three phases of the game.

The main distinction between athletic trainers and team physicians is their different backgrounds in sports medicine. While athletic trainers typically obtain bachelor's degrees in sports medicine and may obtain more advanced degrees, team physicians are normally doctors in the field of orthopedics, often with a concentration in sports medicine.

"[Burnham Field] is an incredible atmosphere," co-captain Kevin Dzierzawski '13 said. "We've played at some of the biggest soccer schools the University of New Mexico and University of Connecticut and we're right up there with them in terms of the fan support we get. There's nothing better than playing in front of that kind of student section, that kind of environment, on Homecoming weekend, against Harvard nonetheless."

Vince Marriott: This week, I can't wait to watch some NHL action! Oh, wait. I'll probably have to wait until next year for that. In the meantime, the lackluster NFL schedule this week may offer some hidden gems to provide entertainment on a Sunday that will probably not see many people leaving their beds until the late afternoon anyway. Both the Seattle Seahawks and the Detroit Lions have had up-and-down seasons thus far, but each of these squads has a great deal of talent on both sides of the ball, especially at quarterback. With Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford lining up behind center for Seattle and Detroit, respectively, look for a well-run game that features myriad long balls and big play opportunities. Hello readers. I have some bad news for you I'm sure you were all looking forward to being pushed to the edge of your seats in reading another intense issue of Battle of the Sexes. Unfortunately, I was out of town this week and thus unable to compete.

The Big Green's offense proved too much for the Lions in the second half, as Dartmouth pulled away with three unanswered goals after a 2-2 tie at halftime. In the second half alone, Dartmouth outshot Columbia, 14-3.

The Dartmouth women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five games on Saturday, defeating Columbia University on the road, 1-0. Tasha Wilkins '15 scored in the 65th minute to give the Big Green (11-4, 4-1 Ivy) its seventh win at Columbia (6-8, 2-3) since 1999.

Dartmouth jumped out of the gates quickly, controlling the pace of play from the opening whistle. In the seventh minute, forward Alex Adelabu '15 chased down a long pass from midfielder Robin Alnas '15 and slotted it past Columbia goalkeeper Kyle Jackson.

While the Big Green did not overcome a double-digit fourth quarter deficit, Dartmouth did stage a comeback of its own, as a touchdown from Columbia running back Marcorus Garrett gave the Lions a 16-14 lead with 2:46 to play. Quarterback Alex Park '14 and the Big Green offense got the ball at the Dartmouth nine-yard line down 16-14, and while the Big Green only needed a field goal for the win, the team still needed a significant drive to get into range for an attempt. After an incomplete pass on first down, Park began a streak of four consecutive completions to Ryan McManus '15 that was only broken by his own 13-yard run. McManus displayed his athleticism on several of the catches, including a 31-yard reception in which McManus streaked down the right sideline and fought off a defender to catch the ball.

"Nothing daunted me," Kurtz said. "It was difficult because there was resistance, but it was inevitable that we were going to have teams here. Dartmouth had admitted women and had committed to treating women the same as they treated men. It's just that it took a while to work our way through various attitudes."

Vince Marriott: I still can't get over how happy I am that we're in the middle of the NFL season. No other sport compares. Within the NFL, however, there are some contests that stand out as truly spectacular, such as those in the NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys play each other tougher than any other squads throughout the season, and on Sunday the Redskins will be traveling to New York to play the Giants. Even though the game does not feature my beloved (and terrible) Eagles, I'll still be tuning in to see football the way it was meant to be played two historic franchises duking it out in cold weather as thousands of inebriated fans pray that they won't have to spend the rest of the week working out wild card probability scenarios. Battling several injuries, the Dartmouth men's and women's cross country teams struggled at the Adidas Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, finishing 32nd and 44th, respectively, at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wis. Of the nation's 30 ranked men's teams, 21 were on the line in Madison, as well as 22 of the top 30 women's teams.

Dartmouth controlled the pace of play throughout the game against the overmatched Quakers (2-10, 0-3 Ivy). Dartmouth's consistent defensive effort and great finishing ability propelled the Big Green past Penn.
(10/15/12 2:00am)
In a dominating first-half display, the Big Green consistently dictated the pace of the game and scored from a variety of situations. Sam McPherson '13 opened the scoring for Dartmouth in the 10th minute of play with her second goal of the season, but the Bulldogs responded just 52 seconds later with a tally by Brooke Gogel.

"It was such a disjointed feel, nothing was generated," Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens said. "It was just a frustrating game there were plays to be made."
(10/15/12 2:00am)
The Big Green began the game with characteristic intensity, setting an attacking pace and keeping the ball primarily in Penn's (7-5-1, 3-1 Ivy) end of the field. The intensity paid off early when Dartmouth was awarded a corner kick in the 13th minute of play.
