Dartmouth moves to online classes for first half of spring term

Dartmouth will be holding all classes in a remote format through May 1 due to the ongoing spread of the coronavirus, College President Phil Hanlon and provost Joseph Helble announced in an email to campus Thursday afternoon.

Sexual misconduct settlement filed, Dartmouth denies wrongdoing

Dartmouth and the nine women suing the College for allegedly failing to act on reports of sexual misconduct by three former psychological and brain sciences professors have reached an out-of-court settlement totaling $14 million, College President Phil Hanlon announced in an email statement this morning.

Petition raises concerns about work authorization delays for international students

Over 1,000 individuals have signed a petition addressed to College President Phil Hanlon and the Board of Trustees expressing frustration over long processing times for international students’ federal work authorizations and calling for support and curricular reform from the College. The delays have resulted in some international students losing internships and money spent on unused housing and flights, according to the petition.

Luke Cuomo '20 elected Student Assembly president

By a margin of just 34 votes out of over 1,700 cast, Dartmouth’s student body elected Luke Cuomo ’20 to become the College’s next Student Assembly president, according to a press release from the Elections Planning and Advisory Committee. The Student Assembly vice president will be Ariela Kovary ’20, who ran on a ticket with Cuomo.

Alexis Abramson to be next dean of Thayer

Dartmouth has welcomed 574 students to the Class of 2023 via early decision, compared to 565 last year. The newest cohort of students was selected from a record 2,474 applicants, representing a nine percent increase compared to early applications last year. The decisions were released to applicants on Dec. 13.

Kevin Figgins Jr. '16 died unexpectedly

Kevin Figgins Jr. ’16 died unexpectedly on Dec. 2, College President Phil Hanlon announced in an email to campus Monday afternoon. Figgins was in Nashville, Tennessee, his hometown, at the time of his death.
