This Winter Carnival, the Green wasn’t the only place on campus to feature student-sculpted snow.

Making its first appearance in decades, a campus-wide snow sculpture competition began on Jan. 10, according to a campus-wide e-mail sent Jan. 6.

Psi Upsilon fraternity took first place in the competition, while Phi Tau coed fraternity and Epsilon Kappa Theta sorority placed second and third, respectively, according to Grace Dowd ’11, Carnival co-chair.

The competition featured entries from 25 student groups and was judged on Jan. 13 by snow sculpture chair Richie Clark ’11, last year's Dartmouth Idol winner Dan Van Deusen ’11 and Mr. and Ms. Big Green 2011, Kate Sullivan ’13 and Richard Stephenson ’12.

The competition will most likely continue in future Carnivals, The Dartmouth previously reported.
