Weekend Look Ahead: Ivy League matchups headline busy weekend for the Big Green

From tennis and lacrosse to rowing and rugby championships, Dartmouth teams gear up for a packed weekend of Ivy League competition.

Dartmouth athletics heads into a busy weekend with multiple teams in Ivy League action and championship events across the country. 

Women’s rugby seeks its third Ivy 7s Championship at Harvard University on Saturday, following a spring break training trip in Fiji where the team competed in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament. Dartmouth defeated Brown University, Harvard and Princeton University last year to win the title. 

Baseball returns home after a midweek matchup at Boston College. The Big Green will host Brown for a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader at Red Rolfe Field on April 11 at 11:30 a.m. and concluding on April 12 at 12 p.m. The Big Green went 1-2 against Brown last season..

Softball hosts Cornell University at Dartmouth Softball Park for Eight Against Hate Weekend, which will open with a doubleheader on Saturday and conclude on Sunday.

Men’s and women’s track and field split competition on April 10 with athletes travelling to the South Florida Invite and the Friar Invite in Providence, R.I.

Men’s and women’s tennis continue conference play, with both teams facing the Yale University Bulldogs and the Brown University Bears this weekend. The men, who sit at 2-0 in Ivy League play after wins over Yale and Brown, will travel to Yale on Friday before hosting Brown on Sunday. The women will host Yale on Friday and then head to Providence to face Brown on Sunday. The women are 2-1 in conference play after a win over the University of Pennsylvania and a loss to Princeton last weekend. 

Men’s lacrosse will travel to Brown on Saturday. The team is 4-6 overall on the season and 0-3 in Ivy play after a loss to No. 18 Yale last weekend. Dartmouth will return home to face Cornell on April 18 for senior day. 

Women’s lacrosse also travels to Brown on Saturday, opening a stretch of three road games in their final four regular-season contests. They are looking to bounce back from a loss to No. 5 Yale. 

On the water, men’s lightweight rowing will travel to Cambridge, M.A. to compete against Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday. The Big Green last raced in the National Collegiate Lightweight Invitation two weeks ago. 

Women’s rowing faces Yale on the Housatonic River in New Haven, C.T. on Saturday after competing against Brown last weekend. 

Open and women’s sailing compete in three regattas this weekend, highlighted by the NEISA Women’s Team Race Championship hosted by Tufts University.

Men’s golf will play in the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J. beginning Saturday, with the tournament concluding on Sunday. 

Women’s golf finishes their regular season at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, N.J. this weekend before competing in the Ivy League Championships on April 24.
