Why did you decide to join Mirror?
SF: Good vibes and lots of freedom!
HL: I worked for the Business Development team for the past three years, but I was always intrigued by Editorial. So I finally decided to switch for senior year! Mirror allows me to learn about aspects of campus life that I’m not a part of and report and reflect creatively on them.
SM: It seemed like a great way to connect with campus culture.
AE: I love writing. I first started in my language and now I actively write in English. Writing clears my mind. A lot.
AG: I read some of the articles that the Mirror had published and thought they were really interesting.
What’s been your favorite part of Dartmouth so far?
SF: Exploring the outdoors!
SM: My favorite part of Dartmouth so far has been all of the quirky traditions.
AE: I traveled to Portland for free as part of Allen House and had Harbor Tour for the first time!
AG: I love getting to know new people through interviews.
Favorite class this term?
SF: QSS 18: Intro to Game Theory
HL: TUCK 2: Principles of Marketing
SM: My favorite class has been ANTH 9: Language & Culture with Sabrina Billings.
AG: ASCL 70.30/SOCY 22: The Business of Development in Asia
Favorite fall-themed activity you’ve done so far?
SF: Hiked Mount Washington!
HL: Norwich Farmers Market! Or Gile sunsike.
SM: I went to the Norwich Farmers’ Market and loved it!
AE: I collected a bunch of fall leaves and threw them into the sky and they fell down on me and I smiled.
AG: Norwich Farmer’s Market.
Favorite fall treat (food or drink)?
SF: Pumpkin spice doughnut.
HL: Cider donuts and Starbucks pumpkin cream cold foam.
SM: Pumpkin spice latte or pumpkin bread.
AE: Apple cider.
Favorite Mirror article (excluding any written by you, of course) published this term so far?
SM: Cooking with Kent and Vidushi: Scallion Pancakes.
AG: I loved the article ranking various types of smoothies in Hanover.
Why should people read Mirror?
SF: Cool quirky stories!
HL: Mirror is a reflection of student experiences that you might not hear about every day. Reading Mirror can be a great way to learn about different aspects of campus life and even build a sense of community.
SM: Because it gives insight to campus culture and shows the creativity of Dartmouth writers.
AE: To get to know the perspectives of your peers at Dartmouth.
Why should prospective writers join Mirror?
SF: Free food.
HL: I love the way Mirror combines Opinion and News in a creative way. Since joining Mirror, not only have I found that I love writing this type of journalism, but I have also learned a ton about campus life through interviewing students, professors and members of the Hanover community.
SM: It allows them to write about subjects that interest them and allows for more creativity than other sections, as the topics can be fairly wide-ranging.
AE: Editors are supportive and come up with interesting ideas for us!
AG: It’s super fun and a really great way to explore the culture of campus and Hanover.
