In a tie with the California Institute of Technology, Dartmouth ranked 10th among U.S. News and World Report's 2014 national university rankings, released Monday night.
For the fifth consecutive time, Dartmouth ranked first for "strong commitment to undergraduate teaching." Dartmouth shared the top spot in this category with Princeton University last year, but this year Princeton placed second.
Dartmouth also placed eighth in the "Best Value Schools" category, which measures the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the school's average level of financial aid assistance.
Dartmouth placed 10th in the 2013 national university rankings and 11th in the 2012 rankings.
