Greek organizations will host a wide variety of events over Green Key weekend to make the most of the spring weather, according to representatives from the organizations. Events kicked off on Wednesday and will continue through Saturday night.
Although Programming Board will not be sponsoring a concert, Phi Delta Alpha fraternity is bringing two of its alumni's bands to perform at its annual Block Party on Friday afternoon. Michael Fritz '07 and Benjamin Lynch-Salamon '10 will perform on Webster Avenue with their bands Whitness and Warm Weather, according to social chair Sam Lewis '13. Block Party starts at 2:30 p.m. and continues through the early evening.
On Friday night, Chi Gamma Epsilon fraternity is hosting "Gammapalooza" on the house's lawn. The event will feature DJ Jus-Ske, Sex Ray Vision, DJ Benzi and Friendly Greg, according to Phi Delt social chair John Nimmo 13.
Delta Delta Delta sorority will start Saturday off with its annual D-Hop pancake brunch from noon to 3 p.m., president Kristen Clifford '13 said. All proceeds from the event will go to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the chapter's national philanthropic cause.
Also on Saturday are Alpha Delta's Lawn Party from 1 to 6 p.m., during which the band Orange Crush will play, and Theta Delta Chi's Pig Roast from noon to 3 p.m., according to social chairs Lawrence Anfo-Whyte '13 and Edward Reed '13.
David Jenks from Dartmouth's carpenter shop will be acting chef at Theta Delt's event, responsible for cooking the pig and prime rib, according to Reed.
"It's a big feast pretty much all day long," Reed said.
"Jump On In," Alpha Phi Alpha's 21st annual step show, will feature the Staccato Step Team, SHEBA, Ujima Dance Troupe, Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and Lambda Upsilon Lambda fraternity as well as performers from Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and Alpha Phi sorority. The event starts at 5 p.m on Saturday in Leede Arena, Alpha Phi Alpha member Aaron Limonthas '12 said.
Kappa Kappa Kappa fraternity and Gamma Delta Chi fraternity will co-host an outdoor concert featuring the "up-and-coming" Indie bands Futurecop! and Tiger Love, Tri-Kap social chair Marcel Wolff '12 said. The event starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Chi Heorot fraternity's "Kountry Kwencher" will run from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday, social chair John Gray '13 said.
The Tabard's lingerie event that started at 11 p.m. on Wednesday "celebrat[ed] positive body image and awareness," social chair Julie Dossantos '13 said. "Awareness Through Sexiness" t-shirts were on sale. The coed fraternity will also "go back to the '70s" with its annual Disco Inferno dance party on Saturday night starting at 11 p.m., she said.
Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority hosted its termly "Tackiez" dance party from 11 p.m.-1 a.m., social chair Hannah Kuhar '13 said.
On Thursday night, the members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity hosted a dance party featuring DJ Postman and New York's DJ Uplifted, social chair Horacio Romero '14 said.
Theta Delt also hosted its annual America Party Thursday night from 11 p.m.-1 p.m. The party featured DJ Chuck Chambers.
Alpha Chi Alpha fraternity will not host an event over Green Key but celebrated spring two weekends ago with its 24th annual Pigstick barbecue.
The barbecue featured food, live music and volleyball. The fraternity invited Hypercane, "one of Boston's premiere college bands," to play at the event, social chair Joe Balistreri '13 said.
Alpha Xi Delta sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Phi Tau coeducational fraternity and Zeta Psi fraternity do not have any events planned, according to the organizations' representatives.
Beta Alpha Omega fraternity, Bones Gate fraternity, Gamma Delta Chi fraternity, Psi Upsilon fraternity, Sigma Delta sorority and Sigma Nu fraternity did not respond to inquiries by press time.
