Vince Marriott : As a native of Philadelphia, it's safe to say that basketball is rarely on my list of must-watch sporting events. Over the past decade, the 76ers have proved to be very good at being very average. They usually snuck into the playoffs, but it only ever provided the chance to get crushed by a far superior team. I didn't even care about what happened to the NBA during the lockout because I figured the Sixers would only provide more disappointment. This season, however, it's my very own Philadelphia 76ers who've been doing the crushing. At 11-5, the Sixers are in first place in the Atlantic Division and, while there's still a lot of season left, seem poised to make a deep run in the playoffs. That's why I'll be watching as the Sixers look to notch another win over the abysmal New Jersey Nets on Wednesday at 7 p.m on the YES Network.
Jonathan Gault : Right now, we are living in a golden age of men's tennis. So whether you follow tennis or not (for the most part, I don't), you should still check out the Australian Open final live at 3 a.m. on Sunday on ESPN or the rerun at 9 p.m. on ESPN2. A few years ago, everyone was ready to anoint Roger Federer as the greatest of all time. Then a young buck by the name of Rafael Nadal started winning Grand Slams in bunches. Suddenly, Federer's spot on the top was in jeopardy. Then, in 2011, Novak Djokovic simply dominated, posting a 70-5 record and winning three Grand Slams. I don't know what the these three have in store for the world in 2012, but I can't wait to find out.
Nathan Yeo : Before the Patriots face off against the Giants in Superbowl XLVI on Feb. 3, make sure to catch the Pro Bowl this Sunday at 7 p.m. This clash of all-stars may lack the titanic implications of the Super Bowl, but it's a great opportunity to watch the best players in the league face off for bragging rights. The AFC team features sturdy quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger and Phillip Rivers to replace Pro Bowl-nominated but Super Bowl-bound Tom Brady. League-leading running backs Maurice Jones-Drew and Ray Rice will also provide a strong ground attack that will test the NFC defense. Stacked with players from the many strong NFC teams this year, the NFC squad is also impressive. Aaron Rodgers, who led the Packers to a 15-1 record this season, will start as quarterback, while Drew Brees, who broke the record for single-season passing yards is listed as back-up. Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and monster tight end Jimmy Graham are sure to give these elite quarterbacks good targets. Regardless of which conference wins, this game is sure to feature some of the best talent in the game.
