The win is the Big Green's first over Cornell since 2005.

Dartmouth has historically had a tough time scoring against Cornell, co-captain Kerry Bracco '11 said.

"Our games against Cornell every year are always pretty frustrating," Bracco said. "They basically put all their players on defense making it really tough for us to score, but this year we finally came out with a win, which was pretty awesome."

Meghan Everett '12 earned the game's first point, pushing the ball past Cornell senior goalkeeper Alex Botte just 3:23 into the first half. The goal was Everett's eighth of this season.

Cornell quickly responded to Everett's point, however, as junior Kat DiPastina scored for the Big Red almost 13 minutes into the half. Botte and Dartmouth goalie Jenna Stearns '13 both played superbly for the rest of the game, fending off all other scoring attempts in regulation.

The atmosphere of the game changed during overtime, however, as Lisa Masini '13 set up Savage in the low circle to collect her team-leading 18th assist of the season. Savage completed the play with a shot into the bottom left corner.

In her rookie season with the Big Green, Savage finished with 12 goals, the second highest total on the team.

This is the second time this season that Savage has scored for the Big Green in overtime. Savage scored against Brown University eight minutes into overtime period to give Dartmouth a 4-3 victory when the two teams faced off on Sept. 24.

"Some of us joked that we went into overtime to prolong our season," Hood said, referring to the team's seniors. "I definitely think all the seniors had mixed emotions it's a bit disappointing that we're ending but we're excited to end our careers on a win."

At the game's conclusion, Dartmouth's four senior players Hood, Bracco, Everett and Meagan Vakiener '12 were honored in a senior day ceremony at the midfield line. Although injured, Vakiener started as the team's goalie for her final game with the Big Green. After one second of play, head coach Amy Fowler replaced the Vakiener with Stearns, who played for the remainder of the game.

"It's been tough being a fifth-year senior but I really tried to have a lot of fun with the game this year," Bracco said. "I was really satisfied with how we did this year as a whole."

Hood and Botte are the only two players in the League who were selected to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Senior Game, which will be held Nov. 19 at the University of Louisville. Only 38 athletes in the country received the honor.

The event will mark the second consecutive year that Dartmouth has been represented at the game. Virginia Peisch '11 was selected to play last year.

"I am definitely looking forward to that," Hood said, referring to the Senior Game. "It gives me one more opportunity to play the game that I love so I'm really thankful for that. I'm also really thankful to my coach, who helped me get there."
