An attempted rape in Huntsville, Ala. at the end of July led to a local news report that blew up YouTube. Kelly Dodson was allegedly attacked by an intruder in the middle of the night, but it was her brother, Antoine Dodson that took center stage in the following weeks as he explosively reacted to the events while the news cameras rolled. His emotional and comical reaction which some have even dubbed a caricature attracted millions of views on YouTube. The Brooklyn-based Gregory Brothers, best known as the geniuses behind the popular meme "Auto-Tune the News," used the news clips to compose another Auto-tuned masterpiece. Their song has more than 20 million views, and is even at the top of the iTunes R&B chart. There are now several covers of the hit, and because Dodson receives half of the profits from the song, he has told several news outlets that he earned enough money to move his family out of the projects. I hope he can still contribute to catchy songs like this one in his future, from much safer digs.
