Harvin “Vinny” Sandhu ’27 died on June 25 from a long-term illness, senior vice president for community and campus life Jennifer Rosales and dean of undergraduate student affairs John McKnight wrote in an email to campus this afternoon.

Hailing from Kansas, Sandhu excelled in high school debate before matriculating in the fall of 2023, Rosales wrote. “A member of Allen House, he explored the liberal arts, taking courses in politics, math and Arabic, and he loved spending time at the library,” she added.

Sandhu did not return to campus after his first term to “focus on managing his health,” according to Rosales’s email. Still, he remained “passionate about” and connected to the College.

“As he navigated many unknowns, mementos of Dartmouth brought him some comfort and lifted his spirits,” she wrote. “His family shared that he remained determined and optimistic at heart, focusing on love and family.”

The Dartmouth flag will fly at half-mast in Sandhu’s memory on July 10 and July 11.
