The meet, which will be held at the Leverone Field House, will draw over 2000 athletes from both the college and high school levels.
The men's team is led by senior captains Muhammed Abdul-Shakoor '10, Ted Lesher '10 and Mike Poppler '10, who have received tremendous praise from head coach Barry Harwick and their teammates.
"Muhammed is a tremendous leader and role-model for the rest of the sprinters," sprinter Joe Tracy '12 said. "We have a great squad this year and he keeps us in line and focused."
Abdul-Shakoor took third in the 60-yard dash at the Indoor Heptagonal Championships last year, making him a favorite throughout the season. The sprinters will also look to newcomer Connor Reilly '13, who impressed coaches as a high school student at the Relays.
Lesher, the team's top triple jumper, will lead the jump squad along with Andrew Ching '10 and Poppler, who have all jumped over 23 feet in the long jump. Lesher is also a strong hurdler, making him one of the most versatile athletes on the team, Harwick said.
The middle-distance runners will be led by Tom Robbins '10, while John Turro '12 and Anthony Romaniw '13, along with the addition of former sprinter Alex Tarnoff '12, should make the 4x800-meter relay an event to watch.
The cross-country squad raced well in the fall and hopes that its momentum from finishing third in the Ivies will carry over to the indoor season.
Additionally, proven threats like Dave Irving '11 and Nick Resendes '12 make Harwick very excited about the throwing events this year, he said.
The women's team is led into the season by captains Jaclyn Wypler '11, Ali Smrcina '10 and Natalie Stoll '10.
Stoll has scored in the 400-meter dash at Heps before and has also helped a set school record in the 4x400-meter relay. She leads a sprinting squad that includes Alexandra Tanner '11, reigning Heps Champion in the 400 hurdles and NCAA qualifier.
Wypler will lead a girls throw squad previously dominated by Emily Daly '09, the top thrower for the team in shot and weight, as well as in the hammer at the outdoor level.
Although the throwers' coach Carl Wallin retired last year after 40 years at Dartmouth, Wypler said that the group remains optimistic.
"This season is extremely different," she said. "Coach Michelle Clayton, a hammer and weight specialist, took over the throws this year and due to her specialty, training for the weight indoors is particularly exciting."
Clayton is not the only new addition to the coaching staff. Coach Will Thomas, a former Harvard assistant coach, has come in to take over the jumpers.
"Coach Thomas has been a really refreshing change for the program and he's really tailored our training allowing us to train in a way that will make us most prepared for our respective events," jumper Z-Hye Lee '10 said.
Women's hurdlers will look for strong performances from Olivia Durr '13, the Maryland state champion in the 100-meter hurdles, while New Hampshire native Chrissy Supino '12 will lead the mid-distance group. Lizzie Short '12 will lead a strong distance group coming off of an improved cross-country season.
The Big Green will also host the Indoor Heptagonal Championships on Feb. 27-28.
