Letter to the Editor: Rethinking the habit

To the Editor:

Raza Rasheed's Jan. 7 op-ed "Reform to Rebound" bewilders me to no end. Why, after listing the countless pitfalls of the ultra-liberal agenda pushed by the Democratic Party recently, does Mr. Rasheed suggest a legislative effort that he believes will elevate this failure of a party? If the Democrats truly have created these "follies" of their own volition, why is Mr. Rasheed so intent on them "limiting their midterm losses"? The answer, of course, is that Mr. Rasheed is blinded by his adoration of the current liberal agenda. He is not about to let a triviality like the opinion of the American people stand between the Democrats and their tireless efforts to expand government at the price of personal liberty.

Mr. Rasheed's strategy to limit these Democratic midterm losses is even more laughable. He proposes adding to the deluge of rhetoric with which the Obama administration has already soaked the public. This is a tactic born purely of politics and does nothing to deal with the tremendous issues facing the country today. Mr. Rasheed seems unconcerned even with pursuing a viable political end. His only desire is to ensure that the liberal agenda he so fervently worships is expanded.
